The Senior Adult Ministry is designed to enhance fellowship and spiritual growth among our senior adults.  Activities include trips, caring for those in need, helping the church staff, the Senior Adult Choir (Practice is held on Wednesdays at 4 PM.), and special programs.  Every year the Senior Adult Ministry presents the Par-Bar Service Award to one or more Seniors who epitomize the spirit of service and ministry the entire program represents.

Young at Heart luncheons are held on the third Tuesday of each month (except August).  Programs are planned by the Senior Adult Council.

The Senior Adult Council is made up of representatives of the older adult Sunday School classes and organizations, the minister to senior adults, and the senior adult coordinator. They serve several important functions:

   * Coordinating activities of senior adult groups.
   * Planning outings and recreation opportunities
      for senior adults.
   * Arranging for transportation to meetings.
   * Publishing a newsletter, "Keepin' In Touch."
   * Sharing information about meetings of interest.
   * Sponsoring an annual Senior Adult Day.
*Being aware of the needs of our homebound
     members.
   *Fostering relationships with younger members
     of UBC.

The Homebound Ministry focuses on persons confined to their private dwellings, retirement communities or nursing centers. This is a ministry of contact by personal visitation, phone call or writing.

The UBC Library

The historic connection to the university community and our commitment to minister in this context have been significant factors in the development of the library of University Baptist Church. More than 1500 square feet of the educational building has been dedicated to house the resources. A retired LSU Professor of Library and Information Science serves as our director and leads the Library Ministry Team.  Special collections are:

Resources for Bible Study and Personal Discipleship - A diverse collection of individual books and sets of commentaries, including The Interpreter's Bible, The Broadman Bible Commentary, The Smyth and Helwys Bible Commentary, and numerous Beth Moore study course materials.

Parenting Resources - Books and DVD's for parents of young children and adolescents as well as caregiving for aging parents.

Pastor's Shelf - Books recommended by our pastors.

The James A. Smith, Jr. Memorial Tots to to Teens Collection - Several hundred volumes of classic literature for children.

Our library has one of the most extensive collections of fiction and nonfiction for children and early adolescents in the Baton Rouge church community.
