Our Staff

The adults at University Baptist Church Child Development Center serve as positive role models and provide care that is supportive, nurturing, warm, and responsive to each child's needs. Our low teacher to child ratios are designed so each child receives specific attention as they develop creative and inquiring minds, good relationships with people, and a loving awareness of God.

The Child Development Center is directed by Meredith Wartelle.

Family Based Care
Much research in Infant/Toddler care reveals a significant relationship between social/emotional outcomes later in life and the intimate bond or attachment between child and caregiver during the first few years. You, the parent, are your child's first and foremost love, however, when children are in care out-of-the-home it is important that they form similar bonds or attachments with their caregiver. It is not until your child reaches the age of two years old that he/she will have to undergo the stress of 'breaking in' a new caregiver. At this time, they will have a more secure foundation of trust. They are mobile, more sociable and are more likely to adapt to change. (Lally, J.R. & Singer, S.M., 1995)
