Ministry to
Preschoolers
and Children

Preschool ministry focus:  Families with children ages birth through kindergarten.

Children's ministry focus: Children in first through 5th grades and their families.

Goal: Help children grow in their relationship with God and others.

Typical Sunday Morning Activities
Age appropriate activities and teaching are offered for infants and toddlers, two year olds, three year olds, four year olds, and five year olds during the Bible Study period.

  Age Group   Room
  Infants   E107
  Toddlers   E106
  2 Year Olds   E100
  3 Year Olds   E102
  4 Year Olds
  E101
  Kindergarden   E103

Volunteers and paid workers provide extended teaching and childcare during our morning worship for preschoolers through age 3.

Four year olds may attend their own extended teaching time after the morning worship service Gospel for Children or remain in the worship service with their families.

The first thru fifth grade classes have a rotation style Sunday School in rooms E201 and E202. The first thru third graders go to music first and then rotate to Bible Story while the fourth and fifth graders begin in Bible Story and then go to music. There is a place for every child!

In music time we continue to strive to carry out the themes going on in Sunday School with learning songs about Bible characters, stories, or values. We compose some of our songs and accompany them on Orff instruments (xylophones, metallaphones, glockenspiels) along with many different instruments. Sometimes we play musical games or do other creative activities. We would love all 1st through 5th graders to come give us a try.  We hope to see you next Sunday.

Childcare
Childcare is offered during Sunday evening and Wednesday evening activities, as well as other scheduled activities requiring childcare such as Parent's Night Out.

Ministry Teams

A Preschool Ministry Team with lay people dedicated to the spiritual and emotional growth of our preschoolers assists the minister in planning and staffing appropriate activities for the preschool area. A Children's Ministry Team assists with planning and appropriate activities for the older children.  Anyone interested in participating in these vitally important ministries is invited to contact the church office.

Child Development Center

The Child Development Center (CDC) is a University Baptist Church ministry that provides a Class A licensed, year round, quality child care center for families of University Baptist Church and the community for children from ages six weeks to four years. All children are exposed to general Christian principles and concepts in a Christian environment.

The purpose of the CDC is to help children reach their optimal levels of development and to learn to work and play with others. Both infants and preschool children are helped to develop creative and inquiring minds, good relationships with people and a loving awareness of God.

Please call the CDC office (225) 766-9524 about space availability, enrollment procedures, and current tuition.

The CDC Ministry Team helps to oversee the center's operations and provide an interface between the center and University Baptist Church with which it shares physical space and other resources.  If you have an interest in being a part of this team, please contact the Minister to Children and Preschoolers.

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS)

MOPS is a ministry of University Baptist Church designed for mothers of preschoolers.

The purpose of MOPS International is to nurture every mother of preschoolers by meeting her distinct needs to the glory of Jesus Christ.

MOPS meets the first and third Wednesday of each month from 9:30am-11:30am. Moms meet in one room for a time of fellowship with other moms while our children (MOPPETS) are cared for in age appropriate rooms with adequate childcare.

To learn more about MOPS, please visit the MOPS International website at http://www.mops.org.

If you are interested in participating in MOPS activities, please contact the Coordinators, Cindy Cannon and Allison Landry, at ubcmops@yahoo.com.
