Missions - Service

UBC is involved in a number of community service efforts.  Three prominent ones are the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity/Helpers for Housing, and the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge.  UBC also provides meeting space for a Narcotics Anonymous support group.

Together for Hope
In this effort, we join with other CBF affiliated churches to support programs to aid people in the two poorest parishes in Louisiana.  In addition to painting and other service projects, we regularly  contribute to a special program called Bags of Hope which supplies backpacks, pencils, notebooks and other school supplies for elementary school children.

To Highland with Love
This project involves over 100 UBC members in helping improve reading and math skills at the local Highland Elementary School and in supporting the faculty at the school.  This is a model program which has received numerous awards. <more>

Benevolence Ministry
Our Benevolence MinistryTeam considers requests from people associated with UBC through some of its programs and who are having temporary financial difficulty.

More

We has been very active in disaster relief.  After hurricane Katrina, UBC served as a collection and distribution center for clothing, food, and a wide variety of relief supplies.  We also housed medical personnel and Red Cross workers. Members worked in several locations rebuilding and repairing damaged or destroyed homes.
