UBC Membership

UBC is a richly-diverse and inclusive faith community. Our congregation includes people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, faith journeys and political opinions. We embrace the challenge of navigating these differences, believing that God weaves our colorful threads into a rich tapestry that reflects the beautiful diversity of the Kingdom of God.

All persons are welcome to participate in our worship, service and activities. Becoming a member is a voluntary choice that:

  • Affirms your “spiritual kinship” with UBC,

  • Allows you to vote at business meetings and serve on committees, and

  • Declares your investment in the congregation through participation, service and giving.

Interested in taking the next step? We receive members in three primary ways:

New to Faith

If you are new to the Christian faith, we invite you to publicly declare your commitment to follow Jesus and be baptized.

Letter of Membership

If you are currently a member of another Baptist church, we can walk you through the process of transferring your membership to UBC.

Statement of Faith

If you have already made a commitment to follow Jesus and been baptized, but don’t have a membership or cannot transfer it, you can join UBC by reaffirming that commitment and your desire to serve among us.

New members are officially received into the church and confirmed by vote during a worship gathering or business meeting. While no official class or training is required, the ministry staff stands ready to help you move along in your spiritual journey, and find your place of service at UBC.

Ready to join, or have more questions? Reach out to our ministry staff by email, or call the office at (225) 766-9474.
