Missions
Open Air Ministries
UBC works in conjunction with the YMCA and other local churches to minister to the unhoused. Meeting at the corner of 17th Street and Florida Blvd, our church leads the Open Air Ministries services on the 3rd Sunday of each month. Some also help with children's ministry during the main worship service. This ministry is primarily to the spiritual need of the unhoused in our community, but we also provide weekly gifts of basic items to help meet some of the physical needs as well.

CBF's Together for Hope
We join with other CBF affiliated churches to support programs to aid people in the two poorest parishes in Louisiana. This includes painting and other service projects, such as a special program called Bags of Hope which supplies backpacks, pencils, notebooks and other school supplies for elementary school children.

Gardere Initiative
Once a month we volunteer with the Gardere Initiative, a local non-profit organization that serves children and families in the Gardere neighborhood. We volunteer at their after school program providing tutoring and homework help for elementary and middle school children, many of whom are students at Highland Elementary.
To Highland With Love
The To Highland With Love Ministry was begun more than a decade ago to minister to the students, faculty and staff of Highland Elementary School located only a few blocks from University Baptist Church.

Regional and International Missions
Periodically, UBC engages in regional and international mission efforts outside of Baton Rouge. Some examples include international trips to Ecuador, an upcoming trip to Shaw, MS to work with Delta Hands for Hope, and an upcoming trip in the summer of 2026 to work with the Roma people in Czechia.
