UBC Holiday Office Hours

The Joy of Combined Worship

I hope you were one of the many UBC folks who joined us for combined Sunday School and worship at Broadmoor Baptist Church last Sunday, Dec. 18. It was such a meaningful time to be together, to join in familiar Christmas songs, and to find ourselves transported, through the power of music, to that first Christmas night.

Broadmoor is our only sister CBF church in Baton Rouge, so it's important for us to see that we can work together to worship God and serve this community.

This Sunday's service was a testament to the truth that Jesus showed his first followers time and again - unity is important, because we can accomplish far more

together than we can alone.

We owe thanks to so many who made this experience possible - to Justin Langford and Paul Henderson, who so skillfully brought the musical forces together. To the many musicians who practiced and mastered challenging music. To the staffs of both congregations who strove to make this a meaningful experience. To the many Broadmoor folks who provided breakfast and made us feel at home.

And finally, to YOU - for showing up and for being a part of such a special day.

I pray that you, like me, will carry warm memories of beautiful music

and new friendships into the days of Christmas ahead!

Volunteer as a Reading Friend!

Our ongoing partnership with Highland Elementary

is a unique and special relationship!

We are looking for volunteers willing to share time as a Reading Friend.

For 30-45 minutes each week, you can invest in the life of an elementary-aged student by reading with them. Organized through Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS), this established program has made a difference in the lives of students all over the city-parish... simply by spending intentional time sitting with a child to encourage and read together.

Can you be a Reading Friend?

Contact the church office and we'll help you get started!
