Full-Time Minister for Worship and Students

        University Baptist Church, Baton Rouge (Louisiana) is a moderate congregation affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF). We are seeking a person to coordinate ministry to students and lead congregational music and worship.

 

        Candidates should be active in faith and congregational life (not exclusively Baptist). Experience in congregational group leadership and Bible study are strongly preferred. Musical training and experience in leading worship are also preferred.

 

Student Ministry

        Candidates should desire to create a welcoming and open-minded space and be willing to facilitate spiritual growth among youth and college students.

 

Responsibilities include:

• Provide meaningful times of spiritual development and community to students aged 6th grade through undergraduate college

• Plan and implement community-building activities and outings for middle and High School students

• Work in collaboration with other ministers on Sunday School content for youth

• Plan and implement regular youth programming (currently Sunday evening from 4:30 to 6:30)

• Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students.

• Draw new youth into the group

• Reach out to undergrad students at the local universities

• Plan new initiatives to reach undergrad students

• Plan and implement activities and outings to draw college students

• Spend time on campus each week

• Work in collaboration with other ministers and staff on church wide events.

 

Worship

        Candidates should desire to create meaningful worship experiences in cooperation with the staff, and lead and develop musical talent within the congregation.

 

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinate, lead, and direct the musical groups (current and potential)

• Organize scholarship singers

• Plan music and worship elements in collaboration with the pastors

• Lead congregational singing, engaging congregants in meaningful worship experiences

• Oversee the technical aspects of worship including audio-visual, streaming, etc.

• Collaborate with staff on other things including but not limited to churchwide events.

• Survey people in the congregation with musical abilities and engage them in worship services and other activities
