Fall Gathering: October 28

On October 28, UBC will host its annual Fall Gathering. This is not the usual Fall Festival, but something wholly more. Imagine an evening where kids find the joy of playing games, while the youth navigate the challenge of an escape room, and the adults find their own space for fun. Our hope is to alter this wonderful annual event to encompass all age groups in the church. We want everyone to feel like they can both an enjoy and give back. This gathering is for UBC, our friends, and the community. Spread the news via word of mouth, sharing UBC’s social media posts, or direct links to the event blog.

The event will kick off at 4:00 pm on the front lawn and parking lot with various games and activities for children, while the youth encounter a unique escape room on campus.

At 5:00 pm, the chili cook-off contest will start. Thirty contestants may enter the contest with a chance to win a cash prize and the coveted golden ladle. This will also double as a free meal, along with hotdog stands for donation. Contestants will be judged from blind tasting. All event participants can also cast a vote by donating $5 for three votes.

At 5:45 pm, we will transition into the student and adult costume contest. That means you are invited to dress up. The contest will give out prizes for the following categories: Best Homemade, Best Group (5 people or less), Most Unique and Funniest.

The evening will wrap up with a Trunk or Treat. To insure adequate space for activities and the chili cook-off, we will only host fifteen vehicle spots for the Trunk or Treat.

Parking will be limited in the front due blocking portions of the lot for activity traffic. Members are encouraged to park in the back parking lot.

Enlist your Sunday School class to help run a game for one hour. We will provide all the

supplies and instructions. You can also sign up to host a Trunk or Treat car. Volunteer roles sign up here: http://bit.ly/2oF7jQj

The Chili Cook-Off will be an epic battle of cosmic proportions. Contestants can enter for $30, with a chance to win up to $200 cash and the coveted golden ladle.

Contestants must arrive at UBC by 4:30 pm. Please bring: serving spoon (one small and one large), side items that spruce up your chili), $30 cash (no change available), drop cord and strip cord/surge protector.
