The Pane
As we come toward Easter, I want to take a moment to say WELL DONE and THANK YOU for all the work you’ve done to reach out to our community.
· Our recent Mission Sunday was a success, with 200 Kindness Bags
packed and a large number of visitors to Open Air Ministries.
· Another successful Soccer Academy concluded this weekend. More than 80 children attended throughout the six weeks, meaning around 150 people filled our “back yard” most Saturday mornings.
· At least 170 people attended our Spring Gathering, which also raised
more than $700 for summer youth events.
I say “well done” because YOU made these things happen.
Your work of setting up and taking down, your work writing cards and
stuffing bags, your work handing out food and running soccer drills…
that’s not just something to check off your volunteer list,
that’s building God’s Kingdom – making our community a little better,
one moment at a time. That’s what Jesus did, and it’s what our faith is all about.
I want to make you aware of a couple of things
as we come to the end of Holy Week:
· In place of a Good Friday service this year, we’ve created an
online experience – an opportunity to experience the Good Friday story in
a different way. Look for the Lenten Series link on our website
and listen to the podcast for instructions.
· On Sunday April 23, we will join with Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church at 5:00 in our sanctuary for a joint worship service, followed
by a meal together in our Fellowship Hall. Please make plans to be here
for this special event, and invite others to join us!

Highland Elementary: Reading Friends
Our ongoing partnership with Highland Elementary
is a unique and special relationship!
We are looking for volunteers willing to share time as a Reading Friend.
For 30-45 minutes each week, you can invest in the life of an elementary-aged student by reading with them. Organized through Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS), this established program has made a difference in the lives of students all over the city-parish... simply by spending intentional time sitting with a child to encourage and read together.
Can you be a Reading Friend?
Contact the church office and we'll help you get started!
