Highland Elementary: Reading Friends

Our ongoing partnership with Highland Elementary

is a unique and special relationship!

We are looking for volunteers willing to share time as a Reading Friend.

For 30-45 minutes each week, you can invest in the life of an elementary-aged student by reading with them. Organized through Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS), this established program has made a difference in the lives of students all over the city-parish... simply by spending intentional time sitting with a child to encourage and read together.

SPIRITUAL FORMATION

New Lenten Spiritual Formation Group is underway!

There is no need to attend all sessions,

so come and go as you are able!

Did you know that we’ve recorded companion podcasts for our Lenten Spiritual Formation series, Prayer for a Busy World? They are about 15 minutes each, and include a guided prayer practice with some background info! If you haven’t joined us on Wednesdays, you can listen along!

MISSIONS

Kindness Bags

Last weekend’s Mission Sunday was a big success, thanks to so many who participated! We had “service worship” as we came together to serve people in our community. Thanks to those who donated money for items, who packed bags, and who wrote notes for those who will receive them.

We now have 200 kindness bags ready at the church – please pick up a few to carry with you, and give them as you see someone who might need one!

We also had a group that attended Open Air Ministries on Sunday afternoon. Together we worshiped, served children, and were simply present with Open Air’s staff and attendees.

Our congregation has a long-standing relationship with Open Air and with Pastor Moore, and the Hawthorne family has taken lead on providing assistance with the ministry on the third Sunday of every month. Please make plans to go next month (April 16) and experience it for yourself!
