The Pane: The Fall Gathering, a Worthwhile Investment in Relationships and Intergenerational Connections
Two of the most beautiful expressions of University Baptist Church are relationships and intergenerational connections. It’s a key reason why our church is thriving.
But why are these expressions important?
As author Tony Hiss wrote, “Human beings have always been an unfinished species, a story in the middle, a succession of families, tribes, and societies in transition to new awarenesses.”
When we invest time, presence, and intentionality with one another, we grow and experience the transforming power of God’s good work through us. And it is pretty remarkable what we can learn about each other and ourselves when we cross-pollenate our time with others, not in the same station of life.
And so, yet again, I am inviting you to invest in relationships and intergenerational connections through UBC. To be clear, I’m inviting you, not an assumption that others will participate in your place.
At the end of this month, we have a profound opportunity to spend time together through the Fall Gathering safely.
At first glance, this event looks like something for children and young families. But that’s a terrible assumption. The Gathering is designed for all ages to have fun, make strong connections, and fill their bellies with good food and treats.
Why not find yourself playing games among children of all ages, riding a hayride through the front lawn, or taste-testing chili from the cook-off? Why not dress up and have a little fun?
The event will kick off with games, hayrides, a free dinner, and a chili cook-off from 4-5:30 pm. Then, at 5:40 pm, we will host a Trunk-or-Treat.
Help raise money for our partnership in Ecuador by purchasing a $10 sampling pass for the chili cook-off. You can also purchase three voting tickets for $5 to help decide the winner of the contest.
While you can participate, you can also share your time by volunteering for one of the many aspects of the event here: https://form.jotform.com/212695418485062
We hope to see you on October 24th.

Mask Policy Update
UBC once again recommends both vaccinated and unvaccinated participants wear a mask while indoors on campus.
We invite you to sign up to provide a care package for one of these 41 staff members. The care package should include candy, a $6 gift card to Lighthouse Coffee or CC’s, a small hand sanitizer bottle, lip balm, and something fun of your choosing.
We want to equip you to be the hands and feet of Jesus by pouring time, care, and attention into making one of these packages. This is why we are asking you to prepare the packages versus donating to the project.
Once you have purchased the items, drop by the church office to fill one of the official package bags, and write a personal note to put on the finishing touch. The office will be open on Sundays 9-11:30 am, and Monday through Thursday, 9 am-4:30 pm.
